“The Thomas Crown Affair” is a 1999 heist film directed by John McTierna with script by Leslie Dixon and Kurt Wimmer. It is a remake of the 1968 film of the same name that starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. This film stars Pierce Brosnan, Rene Russo, and Denis Leary. It follows Thomas Crown (Brosnan), a bored super rich guy who steals priceless art for a hobby. His secret activities cause an insurance investigator (Russo) to purse him as a suspect and develops feelings for him. I really like this film, but I do tend to love a good art thief film in general. This film is stylish, sleek, held my attention, and has a certain charm to it. The heists are imaginative and pulled off in a manner that only a thief with a lot of resources could pull off.
The Beer Lover’s Guide To The Movies pairs this film with Elysian Brewing Company’s Men’s Room Original Red Beer. This beer was originally produced for KISW-FM’s Men’s Room radio show, and now helps supports the families of military vets through the VA Puget Sound Fisher House and Joint Base Lewis McChord’s Fisher Houses by donating a portion of the proceeds of the sale of this beer to these organizations. This American Amber has an ABV of 5.6%. It pours a hazy golden orange color with an inch or so of slightly off white foam. It has the aromas of caramel and toasted malts and citrus and piney hops with touches of earth and wildflowers. It has a bitterness to it that comes first then gives way to floral accents, caramel, citrus, dark fruits, pine needles, bread, and earthiness. This is a great Amber Beer. I paired this beer with this movie because it is as complex as the film, and you will enjoy the layers of both have to offer.
