“Solo: A Star Wars Story” Paired with Bale Breaker Brewing’s Field 41 Pale Ale

“Solo: A Star Wars Story” is a 2018 fantasy film directed by Ron Howard with script by Jonathan Kasden and Lawrence Kasden.  It stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo, and Paul Bettany.  The movie is based on the Star Wars characters Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian.  The film follows the early adventures of Han Solo and Chewbacca, who escape from their humble beginnings and join a heist team in a story that takes place a decade before the events in “Star Wars: A New Hope”.  The film does show us some key moments that were referred to in the earlier movies.  The film suffers from too much being expected from it, with all the die hard fans wanting something different from the story.  It is a good, fun, fast-paced film that gives newcomers and the longtime fans who can check those expectations a good ride.

The Beer Lover’s Guide To The Movies pairs Bale Breaker Brewing’s Field 41 Pale Ale with this film.  This beer as an ABV of 5.2%.  This is a straw color beer with a longer lasting off white head.  It gives you the aromas of pine, citrus and stone fruits, as well as bread.  It tastes of pine resin, cracker, citrus, with a touch of nectarine.  It is one the lighter side with a lighter carbonation.  This is beer is a working person’s beer.  It will cool you down after a hard day of work on a farm, or in a desert after a heist gone wrong.  Part of the draw of this film is seeing all the references to the original trilogy played out.  This beer will satisfy you as much as learning how Han won the Millennial Falcon from Lando.
