“Iron Man 2” Pair With Iron Horse’s Hand Cannon IPA

Iron Man and War Machine Firing Off Their Hand Cannons in “Iron Man 2”

“Iron Man 2” is a 2010 superhero movie directed by Jon Favreau, with script by Justin Theroux.  It stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, and Samuel L. Jackson.  This film is the second of three films that follow the cinematic adventures of Marvel’s Iron Man.  It picks up six months after the first film, where we findTony Stark / Iron Man (Downey) resisting the calls of the United States government to hand over the technology he used to make the Iron Man armor.  Ivan Vanko (Rourke) uses a version of the technology to pursue revenge against the Stark family along with Justin Hammer (Rockwell).  Tony Stark’s buddy, Jim Rhodes (Cheadle), suits up as War Machine to help even the sides up.  This is a superhero film, and you get lots of great special effects and action.  You do not get great character development, since the characters need to stay like the last time you saw them on the screen.  It is fun to watch but you may not get lost in it.  The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects.

The Beer Lover’s Guide To The Movies pairs this film with Iron Horse Brewery’s Hand Cannon IPA.  This India Pale Ale has an ABV of 6.8%.  It pours a hazy yellow and with a big white head.  It smells of malts and a hint of hops.  It tastes of pineapple, papaya, melon, with notes of bread and caramel.  It has enough bitterness for an IPA and a dry mouthfeel to it.  It is a beer that you can get lost in during the non-action scenes of the movie.  During the action sequences you will be impressed by the hero’s firing off their hand cannons while you enjoy drinking this beer.
