“Do the Right Thing” is a 1989 drama written and directed by Spike Lee.  It stars Lee, Danny Aiello, Ossie Davis, Rudy Dee, Richard Edson, Giancarlo Esposito, Bill Nunn, John Turturro, Samuel L. Jackson, Martin Lawrence, and Rosie Perez.  The film looks at A Brooklyn neighborhood’s simmering racial tension, that peaks with violence and an African America man suffers a chokehold death by the hands of police on one of the hottest days of the year.  This film is 30 years old and we are still dealing with the same issues and it is super sad we do not seem able to move forward with this.  This film was beloved at the box office and by the film critics.  It got two Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Aiello).  It was added to the National Film Registry for its cultural, historical, and aesthetical significance.

The Beer Lover’s Guide To The Movies pairs this beer with Miller High Life.  It is an America Adjunct Lager with an ABV of 4.6%.  It pours a crystal clear yellow.  It smells of grainy malts.  It tastes of corn, and grains with a crazy amount of carbonation that gives way to a smooth finish.  This is the iconic champagne of beers.  This is a beer you want to have to cool off on one the hottest day of year.  Da Mayor (Davis) voices his frustration in the film in not being able to purchase Miller High Life at the corner bodega because the beer is that good.  It is for these reasons I picked this beer or this film.
