“Late Night” paired with Iron Horse Brewery’s Send It Pale Ale

“Late Night” is a 2019 comedy film directed by Nisha Ganatra and script by Mindy Kaling.  It stars Kaling, Emma Thompson, Reid Scott, and features Max Casella, Hugh Dancy, John Lithgow, Denis O’Hare, and Amy Ryan.  The film follows a tenured late-night TV host to whom the threat of being replaced is very real.  The host (Thompson) hires a new, but unexperienced, television writer to help breathe new life into the show.  The film’s premise is that the show (and everything) will benefit from the inclusion of different faces and voices.  The film is at its best when any combination of Kaling, Thompson, and Scott are on screen together, be it fighting, riffing, or connecting.  Kaling has a proven track record of creating these scenes and she delivers them while being funny as well as entertaining and being mindful of bigger key concerns.  The film was adored by the critics.  Thompson was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical.  The film was released on Amazon Prime.

The Beer Lover’s Guide to the Movies pairs this film with Iron Horse Brewery’s Send It Pale Ale.  This America pale ale has than ABV of 5.25%.  It is a ginger amber with a cream-colored head.  You get orange and maltiness on the nose.  Citrus, lemongrass, some bread with a slight bit of pine comes though.  This beer is very well balanced without the flavors being punched out in a anyone direction.  I chose this beer because, like the film, it is so enjoyable.
