“The Lincoln Lawyer” is a 2011 crime drama that is based on the 2005 novel of the same name by Michael Connelly. The movie is directed by Brad Furman with script by John Romano. It stars Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, Ryan Phillippe, Josh Lucas, and featuring William H. Macy, Bryan Cranston and John Leguizamo in supporting roles. The film is about Mickey Haller (McConaughey), a lawyer that works out of his Lincoln Town Car, who is hired to defend the son of a wealthy family that is accused of rape. Haller makes a connection with a previous case he worked on and is put in an interesting situation on how to defend his client and how not to violate the rules of being a lawyer and find justice. The received generally favorable reviews and did well at the box office. A television series based on the book was for a time being developed by David E. Kelly.
The Beer Lover’s Guide To The Movies suggests teaming this film up with Bale Breaker Brewing Company’s Field 41 Pale Ale. This beer has an ABV of 5.2%. It is a clear yellow in color with a shorter white head. Your nose will pick up grassy and other herbaceous notes. Its flavor is grassy combined with almost an evergreen tree taste. I chose this beer because it is a complex flavorful pale ale. The beer certainly has more character than your average Pale Ale. Since the movie is a complex legal thriller and full of interesting characters it seems only right that it is paired with a complex beer that is full of character.
