“Ant-Man and the Wasp” paired with Big Block Brewery’s “The Boss” Honey Pale Ale

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” is a 2018 superhero film directed by Peyton Reed and written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Paul Rudd, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.  Paul Rudd also stars in the film with Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Walton Goggins, T.I. Harris, Randall Park, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne and Michael Douglas.  This movie is a sequel to the 2015 “Ant-Man” film.  It takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and follows Ant-Man (Rudd) and the Wasp (Lilly) as they try to save Janet van Dyne (Pfeiffer) from the quantum realm, with the help of Hank Pym (Douglas).  The cast is charming, funny, and works well together to produce a lively funny film that is loyal to the source material and in the collection of films it is part of a series with.  This movie did well with the critics and at the box office.  A third installment in the series has been announced and will start filming in 2021.

The Beer Lover’s Guide to the Movies pairs this film with Big Block Brewery’s “The Boss” Honey Pale Ale. This beer has an ABV of 7.0%.  You get hints of citrus and floral notes.  It tastes the same as it smells with a hoppiness added to it.  This is a small batch beer and only available on-tap, or for you to take home in a growler from their two taprooms in Redmond and Sammamish, Washington.  I realize that Wasps do not make honey, but it did remind me about this great beer when I was thinking of beers to go with this film.  You must do your homework before hand to enjoy this beer because it is harder to find.  The film you can enjoy without watching “Ant-Man” but if you do your homework and view it, it is better.  So, if you do your homework the film and beer become a great combination.
