Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Paired With Goose Island Beer Company’s Goose IPA

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a 1986 comedy writing and directed by John Hughes, who also served as co-produced this film.  Hughes wrote this the film as a love letter to Chicago.  He included many of “Chicago’s landmarks in it.  Hughes wanted to “capture as much of Chicago as I could.  Not just the architecture and landscape, but the spirits”.

It stars Matthew Broderick, as Ferris Bueller, who is beloved by everyone in his high school and decides to take the day off – because as Ferris states “Life moves pretty fast.  If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it”.  The film also stars Mia Sara and Alan Ruck.  The film follows the trio as they visit the Art Institute of Chicago, Sears Tower, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, see a baseball game at Wrigley Field, and take part in the Von Steuben Day parade.

The critics loved this film, praising the light tone, humor, soundtrack, the performances of Broderick and Ruck, along with Hughes’ direction.  It was the top grossing movie of 1986.  The film was added to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress because of its significance
